About Milton

The city of Milton is very unique and a special part of Metro Atlanta. Nowhere else is it possible to be close to the city, have excellent schools, shopping and dining and live in a home with land at the values offered in Milton.

Milton was incorporated in December of 2006 along with the city of John's Creek out of the remaining unincorporated land in North Fulton County. Milton is best known for three things in particular; gracious country clubs, equestrian heritage and homes on more land than other areas. With the Exception of the Crabapple District, Milton real estate typically has lots of at least one acre.

Named after the former county of Milton which merged with Fulton During the Great Depression, there is a revitalized effort currently underway to bring back the old county by bringing in Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta, John's Creek, Mountain Park and Milton together.

Milton Real Estate Market

Find all Milton homes for sale right here. Homes for sale in Milton quite often have lots of over an acre making Milton feel open and spread out in ways that other suburban cities don't. Larger lots, a large equestrian community and horse farms give Milton a "country" feel while remaining relatively close to work centers, restaurants, shopping and more traditional suburban and metropolitan amenities. The real estate market in Milton is one of the strongest in Metro Atlanta and certainly on the north side of Atlanta. The diversity of homes, excellent schools and low crime make it a very sought after location. Combine these characteristics with incredible estates, golf and country club communities, numerous gated neighborhoods and swim/tennis neighborhoods and you get a real estate market in Milton that maintains stable home prices better than most other Metro Atlanta cities.

Milton Neighborhood Information

The Draw of Milton

Part of the draw of living in Milton is that it allows residents to simultaneously enjoy living in an area with lower population density with less traffic and still remain within a reasonable commute to major Atlanta employment centers. On one hand, Milton is very different than other areas of North Fulton due to its equestrian heritage and with that heritage, Milton has a distinct flavor that tends to have a more "country" flavor. On the other hand, Milton is literally minutes from one of Metro Atlanta's largest employment centers in Alpharetta off of Windward Parkway and a reasonable commute to the top end perimeter. This proximity to Alpharetta and the rest of north Atlanta allows residents to enjoy a daily escape from the fast-paced life of the city while remaining close enough for a reasonable commute.

Parks, Recreation, Schools and Lifestyle in Milton

Milton, Georgia offers great parks and recreation including Providence Park, Bell Memorial Park and Friendship Community Park.

Schools in Milton consistently rank among the highest in test scores in the state and therefore, very sought after. Independent school ranking websites like GreatSchools and SchoolDigger consistently rank Milton schools at the top of their lists.

The lifestyle in Milton is intentionally different than that of nearby areas.

Downtown Crabapple

A unique feature in a city otherwise made up mostly of homes on more than an acre, Downtown Crabapple has different zoning than the rest of the city yet still keeps with the overall feel of Milton. The Crabapple district is a small area where Milton and Alpharetta come together near Birmingham Hwy (Broadwell) and Crabapple (Mayfield) intersect. Residential housing is denser than other areas of Milton and this helps to keep the small business healthier. It's designed to be walkable, with restaurants, shops, a farmers market and other small business. Neighborhoods within walking distance include Crabapple Crossing, Crabapple Crossroads, Heritage at Crabapple,  Crabapple Chase, Crabapple Station and Braeburn.
