How To Make Crack Popcorn
We get requests for this delicious recipe from people at every party we host and we understand why. We originally requested the recipe at a Christmas Party we attended at our friend Angie Hauswirth's house a few years back. We still can't get enough of it! Below is a video of us making a batch and the full ingredient list including directions. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
Crack Popcorn Recipe
Time To Make: 50 minutes, Serves: 12-15
Ingredients
- 1 (8-ounce) bag of butter flavored puffcorn, or, 2 (4-ounce) bags (we recommend Chester's Puffcorn)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (do not substitute)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 tsp baking soda
Cooking Directions
Place puffcorn in a large roasting pan.
In a 2-quart saucepan, bring butter, sugar & corn syrup to a boil and continue cooking for 2 minutes or until the mixture gets a nice caramel color.
Add baking soda, stir well and remove from heat. WARNING - this will cause the mixture to foam up!
Pour mixture evenly over puff corn in roasting pan and bake in an oven at 250° for 45 minutes. Stir the mixture every 15 minutes to ensure all puff corn is evenly coated.
Remove from oven and carefully pour hot mixture onto parchment paper trying to break up large chunks before it cools.
Let rest and cool for about 10-15 minutes and enjoy it!
