Discovering the Diversity of Gwinnett County - Lawrenceville, GA

"Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!"

GWINNETT COUNTY
CITY OF LAWRENCEVILLE, GA

FACTS:
Lawrenceville, GA was incorporated on December 5, 1821, three years after the formation of Gwinnett County. It is the oldest city in Gwinnett  County and is the county seat. It has a rich history. The historic courthouse was built in 1824 and rebuilt in 1871 after a fire destroyed it. The location helped to develop a mixed use store and business district that still exists today on Crogan St. Downtown Lawrenceville a/k/a "DTL" has many events, from Paint 'n Sips, Beats on the Streets, Jazz on the lawn, to local theater. You can visit their site here for additional information. Aurora Theater is well known for the community theater, education, and Atlanta's only professional Spanish language theater, Teatro Aurora. In 2014, Lawrenceville Lawn opened to the public and now is the home to an amphitheater, volleyball courts, walking trail, children's playground, and the Southlawn live-work-play community. Gwinnett County Public schools host a range of specialized high schools ranging from STEM, Mathematics & Science, Healthcare, and Performing Arts. In 2021, the School of the Arts was opened in Central Gwinnett High School. Last but not least, Lawrenceville is home to the Gwinnett Stripers who play at Coolray Field. They are the Triple-A affiliate for the Atlanta Braves. There are so many restaurants, shops, and events I couldn't possibly share it all here. I encourage you to venture out into this great community!

MY EXPERIENCE:
My favorite place to visit in Lawrenceville is Boulder Coffee. This coffee house is on Crogan Street and is a vintage home a/k/a the "Lawrenceville White House." I love the atmosphere, their coffee, and their avocado toast! I highly recommend a visit, if you've never been there. They also have a wonderful co-working space called Cornerstone Coworking. I learned a lot about this town as I intentionally visited more places this past weekend. I am intrigued by all they have available in this community and will be spending more time at their community events. There are so many things to do, I don't think I would ever run out of things to do.

WHAT'S NEXT:
Next week, we'll travel to Snellville, GA. I don't know as much about this community as I do the first two but am eager to learn more about what they have to offer. I hope you'll continue with me on this journey around Gwinnett County.

"It's opener there in the wide open air. ... And when things start to happen, don't worry. Don't stew. Just go right along. You'll start happening too."
