About Milton

The city of Milton is very unique and a special part of Metro Atlanta. Nowhere else is it possible to be close to the city, have excellent schools, shopping and dining and live in a home with land at the values offered in Milton.

Milton was incorporated in December of 2006 along with the city of John's Creek out of the remaining unincorporated land in North Fulton County. Milton is best known for three things in particular; gracious country clubs, equestrian heritage and homes on more land than other areas. With the Exception of the Crabapple District, Milton real estate typically has lots of at least one acre.

Named after the former county of Milton which merged with Fulton During the Great Depression, there is a revitalized effort currently underway to bring back the old county by bringing in Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta, John's Creek, Mountain Park and Milton together.

Part of the draw of living in Milton is that it allows residents to simultaneously enjoy living in an area with lower population density with less traffic and still remain within a reasonable commute to major Atlanta employment centers. On one hand, Milton is very different than other areas of North Fulton due to its equestrian heritage and with that heritage, Milton has a distinct flavor that tends to have a more "country" flavor. On the other hand, Milton is literally minutes from one of Metro Atlanta's largest employment centers in Alpharetta off of Windward Parkway and a reasonable commute to the top end perimeter. This proximity to Alpharetta and the rest of north Atlanta allows residents to enjoy a daily escape from the fast-paced life of the city while remaining close enough for a reasonable commute.
