The Short Sale Process
Marketing your home as a short sale is only a small portion of what happens during the process and it can really only work if we truly partner with you - as a team. You could have one or more loans to deal with or you may only be short on one loan, but either way, there are additional steps along the way that complicate the sales process. What is a Short Sale?
When the bank allows you to sell your home to someone else for less than the amount owed on the loan(s), it is called a short sale. You are selling the home 'short' of the full loan amount.
How Do I Get a Short Sale?
There are several ways for the short sale process to work including HAFA, HAMP and the more traditional method of submitting an offer with financial documents and a hardship letter to your lender(s).
What Damage Does it Do to My Credit
That's not easy to say - at least from a credit scoring view. It will be easier to obtain a conventional loan after a short sale than it would if you were to do a deed in lieu of foreclosure or do a simple foreclosure.
