Redfin Comes to Atlanta
Posted by Ryan Ward on Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009 at 6:55am....and I don't care! If I was Rhonda Duffy or one of the other discount brokers I would be very concerned as it might take away market share from them. We are full service real estate professionals and don't compete based on fees this way. Instead, we use honest to goodness talent backed up with an incentive based fee structure that motivates our agents to do a better job. Good luck Redfin. You will need it. You will have some serious competition here in Atlanta for the discount market. I'm pulling for the local agents (yes, that's you Rhonda :) ).

Redfin started in my hometown of Seattle and I think I can speak for the majority of the real estate industry that discount brokers are just a fad. As a former Realtor, I had clients that were curious about the prospect of saving major moula. If full service Realtors are willing to do their jobs well, we shouldn't see this trend continuing once the economy recovers. Jennifer Real Estate Business Card Magnets

Good for you! These guys think they can come into town and just push their business by being discount brokers. I know many of the discount brokers who are out of the business they think that's all that sellers care about. If someone's a pain about the commission, they will be a pain throughout the transaction.

The old saying still goes, you get what you pay for.... sometimes Cheap Charlie is not always the answer and can cost any client more than they saved in the long run, and that goes for every profession.

In the Sun City Grand Arizona market the discounters don't seem to get the job done. We really haven't seen much influx from them and the residents stick with the names they know can get their homes sold.

I think that there are always people who will look to cut the fees of service providers and some will get a reduction in the cost of those services. However, in the long run, people will always pay for quality service and product knowledge and thats not something you can pick up over night. I know that if I'm looking to spend money on one of the biggest capital investments in my life I really don't want to cut corners and will use the people that have an established track record and have proved themselves to be leaders in their field.
